01 Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a senior professional who approaches test automation as a software development and quality engineering challenge. At this level, we expect more than just implementation: you should be able to assess a project’s test automation approach, make sound technical decisions, choose the right architecture, and provide technical guidance and support to the team.

02 Your responsibilities

  • Define the test automation strategy, technical approach, and framework architecture
  • Assess and modernize existing automation solutions, providing technical justification for technology and tooling decisions
  • Design and implement a well-structured test automation strategy across UI, API, integration, and end-to-end testing layers
  • Define test data, test environment, and test isolation strategies, including the use of mocking, stubbing, and service virtualization
  • Design CI/CD test execution architecture, including quality gates, parallelization, stability, and execution time optimization
  • Perform root cause analysis of complex defects, flaky tests, and system integration issues using logs, traces, and diagnostic tools
  • Conduct code reviews and establish and promote technical standards and automation best practices
  • Advocate for testability considerations when collaborating with developers, architects, DevOps teams, and client-side experts
  • Evaluate technical risks, effort estimates, and alternative implementation approaches
  • Mentor junior and mid-level colleagues and lead workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and Proof of Concepts (PoCs)

03 What we expect from you

  • At least 5 years of comprehensive experience in software testing and test automation
  • Proven experience in designing and building an automation framework or a significant test automation solution
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language: TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#
  • Strong hands-on experience with modern UI test automation using Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, or WebdriverIO
  • Strong experience in API and integration test automation, including HTTP/REST, authentication, and system integrations
  • Confident application of maintainable automation architectures, code review practices, and software development best practices
  • Strong practical knowledge of CI/CD systems and pipeline-based test execution, including the implementation of quality gates
  • Proficiency in Git, SQL, test data management, and test environment management
  • Ability to independently analyze complex technical problems and professionally evaluate alternative technologies and implementation approaches
  • Solid understanding of test automation strategies and the appropriate selection of testing levels
  • Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor colleagues, and communicate confidently with clients in English

You are not expected to know every technology listed above. Our client projects use different technology stacks, and we value strong technical fundamentals and the ability to learn new tools and technologies.

04 Nice to have

  • Experience leading multiple test automation stacks, greenfield framework implementations, or major automation modernization initiatives
  • Experience with performance engineering tools such as JMeter, k6, or Gatling, or mobile test automation using Appium
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Testcontainers, cloud-based testing platforms, and contract testing (e.g. Pact)
  • Experience testing event-driven and microservices-based systems, including observability, distributed tracing, and complex system integrations
  • Familiarity with Allure, ReportPortal, SonarQube, and quality metrics, as well as foundational knowledge of resilience, accessibility, visual regression, or security testing
  • Experience with Agentic AI workflows, AI-powered testing, or LLM evaluation, as well as technical presales, solution design, or technical lead responsibilities
  • Relevant ISTQB or other professional certifications, a technical degree, and German language skills
